My niece, Sophie, was born in October 2007, exactly four months to the day, before my daughter Madeline. I love that they’ll be able to grow up together, side by side, and, with any luck, the very best of friends.
Sophie is a happy baby. A smiley girl who loves to point her toes and twirl her feet. Light, breezy strawberry blonde hair, which so reminds me of Fraggle Rock, and a funny wrinkled nose face whenever one of the dogs pass by her. She loves watching whatever Nicholas is doing and is not quite sure what to make of Madeline yet. The last few times they’ve gotten together, she’s taken to patting her as if she was a cat or screeching so loud that she reduces her to tears. All things in time.
